People in our lives/Craft/Puppy

I’ve spent a lot of time these last few weeks pondering my gratefulness for people like the one pictured below.  I think that we get so caught up in our daily lives that we do not often stop to think about the people that help make our lives fabulous. Since moving home, I’ve gotten to spend a fair amount of time with my baby brother, Brent. We were very close growing up, and though our relationship remained decent when I moved to college, it just was not the same as being here at home. Mind you, he is not the only person that puts a smile on my face everyday; I have lots of people in my life that do that. He is simply one. I am grateful for all of them.

I spent the better part of Sunday cleaning out my room. I’ve lived in the same house for ten years now and while my room has been cleaned out and redecorated many a time, no experience could possibly compare to this one. Nothing crawled out and bit me, no ceilings caved in, but I did realize something: I’ve changed a lot. I now choose to be friends with positive people. Yes, we all have “those days” where nothing seems to go our way and the world just seems to be one big raincloud. I get that. However, when you seem to be having one of “those days” everyday for the last 2.5 years that’s not healthy for me, nor is it healthy for you. I choose to take the flight method and bow out of that friendship. After further thought, I realized I mentally ended that raincloud several weeks ago but the true realization did not come until Sunday as I cleaned out my room.

On Sunday, I also spent some time outside working on this. sunday's creation

My mom got it for me on clearance at Hobby Lobby a while back for when my Grammy comes to stay. It holds her sleep apnea machine next to my bed. The legs were a hideous black color. I hated them. Because Sunday was such a gorgeous day here in Houston, I wanted badly to be outside. I borrowed my stepdad’s electric sander, sanded down the legs and painted them sky blue. I’m happy with the product!

In puppy news, I got my little fellow’s first official picture.

Though everyone in my life, on Twitter and on this blog pretty much voted for Scout, and I was in love with the name “Scout,” I chose to go with Murphy. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is my all time favorite book and I would like to save Scout for Murphy’s future sister and stay true to TKAM. Murphy gets to come home on November 8th. My family and I are soooo excited! He’ll be my dog since I’m funding him, so I got my mom an “I love my granddog” car magnet. Hahaha

I’ve ordered his dog tag and some matching Thanksgiving bandanas for Buster and Murphy. I’ve also purchased him a ton of things. Can you tell I’m excited?!?!

I know what you mean about needing to get rid of negative people from your life. I have a few of those too. :S
