Exactly 27 days from today, I will be turning 19 and enjoying my last year as a teenager. July is my favorite month of the year not only because it is the month that marks my grand entrance into this world but because it just screams "summer!" To be able to see "July" on a calendar just makes me a happy girl!
I have kept busy working at my store (no more helping at another store) and enjoying summer activities such as canning tomatoes with my Grammy, helping my Uncle Alan build his property entrance, working in the garden at my Grammy and Popey's and swimming with my friends. Summer activities such as swimming, working in a garden and grilling appeal to me far more than skiing , watching a movie or making something in the crock pot. Though the Texas heat seems to be unbearable at times, I find nothing more comforting than getting in the car after shopping or hanging out with friends and just cranking up that A/C to as low as the temperature gauge goes and as high as the fan will blow. That feeling of cooling down is irreplaceable.
Last week on Wednesday, I surprised my grandparents by appearing at their door at approximately 10:00am. I called my Grammy and pretended like I was on my way to work. She totally bought my story because I call her every day on my way to work or wherever I happen to be off to. Little did she know, I was actually right down the road. The look on her face is one I wish I could’ve captured on film or at least my Nikon. Priceless. She was shocked I pulled it off because I tell her everything (almost!).
I helped her mow the lawn. She did part of it and I finished it off.
Our beloved Bella is pictured below. She is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met besides my Buster and Bluey.
I helped my Uncle Alan put up boards for his entrance two mornings in a row. He works the night shift as a nurse and came in to work on it after work. After a 12 hour shift, I would have been exhausted but he was more than enthusiastic. I admire him for that.
My cousin, Anthony, requested that I make him a peach cobbler and have it ready by the time he got home from work the next day. He was probably only kidding but I made it for him anyway. I didn’t taste it but he was so happy and enjoyed every morsel!
We officially have tomatoes and summer veggies growing out of our ears. We have 10-15 tomato plants that are huge and continue to produce tomato after tomato. I almost feel as if it will never end! Grammy has been canning like crazy but had only just begun when I arrived! After helping her year after year, I decided this year would be no different.
Homemade ice cream is one of my favorite treats but I rarely eat it because it’s not the healthiest. Grammy and I were both craving it, so we broke down and made some together. How delicious it was!
I returned back to Houston from my Grammy and Popey’s this past Saturday. I enjoyed a week full of work and playtime with friends. I spent the night last night with some friends and came home this afternoon. I wasn’t home more than thirty minutes when our doorbell rang. After begging her all week, she came and surprised me for the fourth of July.
All is right with the world again; my Grammy is here :)

Hi Sweet girl. I love how much you love your grandmother. I am hoping (and trying) that I have the same kind of relationship with my granddaughter that you have with her.
